The Laumeier Sculpture Park was born from a gift made by Mrs. Henry Laumeier of her 72-acre estate to the people of St. Louis County and the greater metropolitan area. With the direct support of a group of innovative community leaders and many generous friends, the Laumeier has developed into what it is today – an internationally- recognized open air museum. This 98-acre outdoor sculpture park holds a collection of more than 80 contemporary sculptures by artists of international acclaim. Many of the works represent current and unique approaches to art in a natural environment. The Laumeier is one of the region´s must-see attractions. With over 300,000 visitors annually, this is one of the most visited cultural attractions in the area.

Few caves are more famous than the Mark Twain Cave in Hannibal. Discovered in 1825, the cave is featured prominently in Mark Twain’s popular book, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.” It also served as a hideout for Jesse James and his gang, as well as slaves seeking freedom along the Underground Railroad. The Mark Twain Cave is the oldest show cave in Missouri, having hosted tours for more than 115 years.
